Subject: SISO Canada chapter established
Sent From: email@example.com
SISO is pleased to announce the establishment of a new chapter
dedicated to promoting the interoperability and use of modeling and
simulation across a broad range of applications.
SISO Canada became the first international chapter of SISO on
December 4th when Warren Katz, Chair of SISO`s Executive Committee,
and Stephane Albert, Interim Chair of SISO Canada, signed a
Memorandum of Understanding in Orlando, Florida. The organization`s
formal inauguration will take place January 22nd in Ottawa, Canada.
The signing culminated three months of detailed planning,
coordination, and discussion of policies, procedures, and processes
geared to the pursuit of our common goals. SISO appreciates the
visionary approach, energy, and effort of our Canadian colleagues --
Andrew Vallerand and Marcel Thompson of Canadian SECO, and Stephane
Albert of CAE -- who initiated the dialogue. Special thanks also to
Warren Katz for quickly negotiating an agreement to the mutual
benefit of all concerned. The process provides a template for other
interested countries, agencies, and organizations to join our mutual
pursuits in the areas of modeling and simulation.
We look forward to many years of mutual interaction and support with
our Canadian friends and neighbors as we work toward common goals in
modeling and simulation/synthetic environments.
The official launch event of the new organization will take place at
the Westin Hotel - Ottawa, Canada, on January 22, 2003. Guest
speakers include the Chair of SISO`s Executive Committee, Warren
Katz, and CAE`s President of Military Simulation and Training, Don
Campbell. The purpose of the event is to exchange views and ideas on
how to leverage this new standards organization in support of
Canadian programs and Canadian specific requirements. Additional
information regarding this event will be posted via a link on the SISO
web site, http://www.sisostds.org.
