I'm on board with any such automation, but some comments:

1. We cannot eliminate the applicability. That is more important than the description.

2. The description here is used for explicit listings of implicit enumerations. By implicit, I mean that these things are already defined, but we want to list a few out for the convenience of the generated UUIDs, UIDs, and names.

3. The implicit values cover the whole enumerations, so there's no case to be able to use a subsequent field for our description.

4. Nowhere else do we require the usage of hierarchical descriptions. There are some examples of this where we repeat a parent text entry to make the actual entry clearly stand on its own. Note that many times, the individual entry text description is used on its own. This is why it's useful to have them have custom descriptions.

5. Just having the weapon description is insufficient to describe the entity. But, maybe if there's a use case for the full description, it's a use case for the user of SISO-REF-010 and not something we need to solve?

6. For whatever we do here, we will have to make sure it also works for the Extra field. So, you can have Male or Female Australia Army <weapon>.

7. Make sure it also works for the country-specific overlay. So, without a country overlay you would see Naval Infantry. For the U.S., you would see USMC.

Interesting discussion this one - I agree that if we left the applicability as it is now - then it would make it very difficult to read/use in the future. (as there could be many listings with exactly the some weapon description.

I think the automation idea is probably the best suggestion.

I will look at possibly automating the process to 'allow' the county at the start of the description, followed by the 'Category' description - with the equipment description being last.

So would then get a description like:

3.1.13.11.5.55 Australia Army w/5.56mm Austeyr F88

3.1.13.13.5.55 Australia Air Force w/5.56mm austeyr F88

3.1.13.14.5.55 Australia Navy w/5.56mm austeyr F88

Thoughts?
