Hello,
Enclosed is a CR to add the Canadian LAV-III armored fighting vehicle (variant of US Stryker).
I have tried to present these in a way that doesn't require creation of lots of acronyms (but will do so if this causes an issue for Flemming!). I have also tried to closely follow US enumerations for this type of vehicle.
I have a question/comment (and again this one concerns weapon variants).
Many of the US variants these Canadian vehicles are based on all have specific weapon variants (there is no generic "Stryker Engineer"). For example:
1.1.225.2.5.18 -- M1126 Stryker PC w/MK 19 mod 3 40-mm grenade launcher
1.1.225.2.5.19 -- M1126 Stryker PC w/M2 .50 cal heavy machine gun
The Canadian variants might have a different weapon configuration that doesn't match this precise enumeration.
Given this information, would you recommend:
- Leaving the variant references as they are in the CR?
- Generating Canadian weapons-based variants that better match the US enumeration (e.g. LAV-III Command Post w/MK 19 mod 3 40-mm grenade launcher, etc.)
- Referencing everything back to the highest US enumeration level. e.g. 1.1.225.2.5 -- Light Armored Vehicle (LAV) Stryker
Basically - how critical is the reference enumeration that will be featured in the NEW enumeration name?
Grateful for your comments/feedback as usual.
Regards,
Gareth (on behalf of Simthetiq)
