Inside the document for PDU version, it states that 5 = IEEE 1278.1-1995. Section 1.0 states:
1.0 Overview
This document specifies the numerical values and associated definitions for those DIS PDU fields which are identified as enumerations in IEEE 1278.1-1995. "Inside the document for PDU version, it states that 5 = IEEE 1278.1-1995. We are still not sure exactly when this edition of the SISO Enum document was actually "published'.
We are still not sure exactly when this edition of the SISO Enum document was actually "published'.
For document archeologists a most tantilzing clue as to the "checked past" (idiom) of documenting DIS enumerations is found in this statement in the document:
Introduction
This 1994-1995 revision of what is popularly called "the DIS enumeration document" has been prepared by the Institute for Simulation and Training (IST). The original contents of this document began as a set of separate appendices to the early versions of the Standard for Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS) Protocol Data Units (PDUs). These appendices were eventually bound together under common cover with a single title and published as IST-CR-93-19. Stewardship of this document was then temporarily transferred to the Joint Interoperability Engineering Organization (JIEO), which substantially increased the level and amount of detail. The next revision by IST, published as IST-CR-93-46, retained the many substantive contributions of JIEO, while restructuring the document for the first time as the single, integrated source for all enumeration fields found in the DIS PDUs. This update incorporates change requests 1-147.
"My gosh" (idiom). They initially documented DIS enumeratons properly before going off course!
