Stephen,

Thanks; that does help.

All in all, this will be strange, and I think we’ll miss the socialization at the dinners most of all.

Most of the problems with zoom were the result of the zoom meeting host not selecting the proper settings (eg password required to enter, password emailed to registrants just before the meeting, all who enter the meeting are held in the "waiting room" before being allowed to enter, a list of registrants to compare with people in the waiting room, etc) and participants posting the meeting details to their social media accounts. That last problem partially handled by the meeting organizer putting ROE into the invitation email sent to registrants.

Other problems (encryption etc) dealt with by the latest release of Zoom.

So, Zoom is not as secure as gotomeeting for example but is easier to use and control, and gotomeeting is not perfect. Neither is.

The real issue is whether the collaboration meeting system requires a download to the participant machine or whether the web-accessed approaches are blocked by the institutional gateway.

The Connections planning team are discussing which system(s) to use, whether to contract with an organization to run the conference, and what training is required for people who will facilitate and moderate each session.

All the best

Stephen,

I have heard that the military has implemented certain restrictions on the use of Zoom; were those discussed, and/or will specific guidelines be promulgated to help attendees avoid being Zoom-bombed?

Chuck,

How did the Connections meeting go?  Any details on how they plan to run the conference?  Or what technology they plan to pursue?

We need to modify our TOR to change the name from Study Group to Standing Study Group. For reference, I’ve attached the ENGTAM SSG’s TOR that we can pattern after (mainly a change in name to SSG and rework of the period of performance). We also need to produce an annual report for the first year (March 2019 to March 2020).  Can be pretty brief since a lot of the work has been formative, together with the draft survey. I’ve attached a template for an annual report.
